At REC-Canberra Equine Centre, we are committed to delivering expert care in equine sports medicine, lameness diagnostics (including use of gait analysis systems), and performance issues. Whether your horse is recovering from injury or simply not performing at its best, lead by our Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Specialist, Dr Raf Labens, we conduct in-depth physical examinations, diagnostic imaging, and targeted testing. Investigations are tailored to identify issues across musculoskeletal, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and cardiac systems—helping your horse to reach its optimum performance.
Equine Lameness, Sports Medicine and Therapy
Horse owners today have an array of complementary practices and products to turn to in the care and management of their equine partners. These include therapies such as acupuncture, Class IV laser and extracorporeal shockwave therapy. These treatment modalities may be used individually or together to accelerate recovery and optimize results.
We also provide regenerative therapies (orthobiologics) for tendon/ligament injury and osteoarthritis which use the horse’s own proteins and cells to promote improved healing.
