REC-Canberra Equine Centre’s core service is to provide first and second opinion evaluations for any issues your horse may develop relating to equine surgery, lameness, performance and rehabilitation.

Dr Labens’ specific expertise in equine lameness diagnosis, imaging, rehabilitative techniques and surgical oncology means, when needed you & your horse will have access to advanced technologies (including clinical trials) that best support your horse’s return to athletic function.

Specific services being offered at REC-Canberra Equine Centre at our Capricorn Park facility include:  

• Lameness diagnosis (including use of gait analysis systems)

• Advanced diagnostic imaging (Radiography, Ultrasonography, Video-Endoscopy, Gastroscopy, & Thermography),

• Outpatient surgery including surgical oncology, laser surgery, electrochemotherapy, photodynamic laser therapy, cryosurgery and access to clinical trials.

• Rehabilitative techniques; acupuncture, focused shock wave therapy & ‘orthobiologic’ injections (IRAP, Prostride, PRP)

• Wound management

• Pre-purchase examinations

• On-farm/ambulatory consultations. 

Our affiliated veterinary health network, in conjunction with REC Equine Specialists, ensures that when hospital based services or other specialty consultancy are required, they are promptly achieved at the highest standard of care for your horse.
